Happy 21st Birthday to My Little Sister

Written as my speech for my little sister on her birthday the 3rd of May 2010:

Where do you start when you have to say a speech about your dear sister and absolute best friend?

Shay as you all know is a very special person, who has in many ways touched each and one of our lives in her own and very unique way! She is my best friend and I don’t know how I would go through life without her being there no matter how idiotic my plans are hehe.

Shay, you have always been there for me even when you don’t understand the full story and have always been there when I needed a shoulder, I will always be grateful for that. You know just how to make me smile and how to make a person feel special when they feel like nothing else could go wrong.

Shayzy and I have shared in many, many wild times together and with friends, please do not let her angelic face trick you into believing she is so innocent. Her and I had the best time driving home from varsity when she started dancing in traffic, waving at random people, stopping off for pies at the engen on route and my funniest moment in the car with her was when she was in traffic one day with a spare bra in hand and she would put it in her top and rip it out as soon as someone was next to us, probably not a good idea because it could have caused a traffic jam but worth the laughs we shared together. She loves to be around her friends and sometimes gets a little crazy when I have to fetch her and she can’t walk or I hear stories of her and a friend sitting fully clothed in a bath at some crazy hours washing each other’s hair!

Shay has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen where she will go to the ends of the earth for friends and family and should she need to step in and help you know that you have one faithful person there who cares beyond the expectation of anyone. She is a hard worker who has strived to do her very best in everything that she can, she is going to be the first person in our little family to get her degree and she is excelling at her job in leaps and bounds. I am truly proud of the wonderful woman that she has become and I am blessed to have her in my life!

Happy 21st Birthday my angel and may God bless you in every step of your walk as you lead through your life! You have made mom and dad super proud and we could not be more grateful that God gave you to us…they say that children choose their parents and it if were the other way round- where parents chose their children, I am 100% sure that we could choose you. You are truly special and I will always love u.
